Hi there,
I'm not sure if anyone has any suggestions. I found the first 2 months of motherhood extremely difficult, as many of us do. I would feed and change my baby, have a little chat on the change table then put him on the floor to play, while I cried!
He is now 4 months and, although he likes to cuddle while we read books, play or bath together, he gives very little eye contact to me or anyone else. Many people comment that he is a 'placid baby' or that 'he isn't a very smiley baby, is he?" I feel devastated because I suspect that my anxiety in those early months has set this up. He now has a few smiles for me at the change table but I cannot engage with him at all after this in his one hour of playtime.
I use a sling and he is happy in it, he definitely enjoys the closeness. It is the conversations/responsiveness to people that I am very worried about out.
Any suggestions? Thank you so much.
